Western Mass Credit Unions and Leaders in Conversation

On April 5th, the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA) hosted a special event in Springfield, featuring representatives from Western Massachusetts credit unions. CCUA Members from all four counties joined forces to discuss critical issues with federal, state, and municipal leaders.

State Representatives Shirley Arriaga, Carlos Gonzalez, and Chicopee Mayor John Vieau played pivotal roles in our discussions. The active involvement of the staff from the offices of our federal Senators and House delegation, along with representatives from the State House and Attorney General's office, added significant value to the event.

The heart of our discussions revolved around Legislative threats and opportunities at the federal and state levels, such as interchange, member business loan expansion, Massachusetts State Charter parity provision updates, and Municipal deposits. We passionately advocated for areas where credit unions make a substantial impact on our communities, such as financial green financing, student loan opportunities, and housing.

This event provided credit unions with a valuable platform to connect with policymakers and champion the issues that matter most to their members.
