Tewksbury Federal Credit Union Sponsors Credit for Life Fair

On Wednesday, January 29th Tewksbury Federal Credit Union sponsored and conducted a “Credit for Life” reality fair for the junior class of Tewksbury Memorial High School. The sponsorship was made possible thanks in part to a grant from CCUA. Maureen Montecalvo, CEO of TFCU, closed the credit union for the morning so that the entire staff could volunteer.

“Credit for Life” is a living budget experience. Students choose a career in advance and visit 13 booths, interacting with over 40 credit union and community volunteers to make spending choices based on their income.

Juniors had a great time exploring the world of personal finance and "adulting"! Among other comments, students stated that they learned “not to put a lot of things on your credit card”, and that “saving for retirement is important”, as well as “putting more money in (their) savings account”.

The Greater Lowell Community Foundation also offered a generous $1,000 donation to the nonprofit organization chosen by the Class of 2026 as a philanthropic Impact Award. Tewksbury Community Pantry was chosen to win by a majority vote.
