Stoneham Municipal Employees Federal Credit Union Awards 2024 Elsie P. Kinney Memorial Scholarships

Stoneham M E Federal Credit Union continued its tradition of recognizing outstanding local high school graduates through the Elsie P. Kinney Memorial Annual Scholarship program. The scholarship was created in 2018 to honor Elsie P. Kinney and has awarded $7,500 towards higher education expenses throughout the program's tenure.

The credit union accepts scholarship applications from high school seniors throughout the North Shore who are either members or the child or grandchild of a member.

Stoneham M E Federal Credit Union's Board of Directors award two $500 scholarships annually to students who demonstrate academic excellence, participate in extracurricular activities, and display a passion for community involvement. The pool of potential well-deserving recipients that applied during the 2024 application period inspired the scholarship committee to choose an additional recipient for this year’s awards.

The recipients of the 2024 Elsie P. Kinney Scholarship were Nathan Cyr of Tewksbury, who will study Digital Media and Film at Quinnipiac University; Alexis Manzi of Wakefield, who will enter the nursing program at Saint Anselm's College, and Liam Gorman of Lynnfield, who will pursue a degree in Neuroscience and Behavior at the University of New Hampshire.

The students attended a reception on July 18, 2024, at the Stoneham Branch at 40 Pine Street, where the credit union recognized them and presented their scholarship awards.
