Sterling, MA – The Cooperative Credit Union Association’s (CCUA) Massachusetts Credit Unions raised $100,000 for A Bed for Every Child, an initiative of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, during the 8th annual Stephen D. Jones Credit Union Charity Golf Tournament held June 17 at Sterling National Country Club.
“Massachusetts Credit Unions have once again demonstrated what it means to live out the credit union mission of ‘people helping people,’” said Ronald McLean, President & CEO of the CCUA. “Their unwavering commitment to A Bed for Every Child continues to make a lasting impact on children and families throughout the state.”
Hosted by the CCUA’s Massachusetts Social Responsibility Committee, the event brought together 100 golfers in support of the statewide initiative, which provides beds to children in need across the Commonwealth. New this year was a “Break the Glass” challenge on hole 15, adding a fun twist to the tournament’s long-standing traditions.
The day concluded with an awards reception and live auction, where the Massachusetts Credit Unions presented a $100,000 check to Tina Baptista, Director of A Bed for Every Child. With this year’s donation, Massachusetts Credit Unions have now raised more than $3.1 million for their state charity partnership over the past 28 years.
In addition to the annual golf tournament, Massachusetts Credit Unions support the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless year-round through efforts such as the Gift of Warmth drive and children’s book collections.
The Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA) is the leading regional trade organization, acting as the advocate for nearly 200 credit unions spanning Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. These member credit unions collectively manage assets exceeding $75 billion, serving a combined membership of over 5 million consumers. Visit www.ccua.org for more information.
