McLean Provides Industry Insights at Southern MA Chapter Credit Union Event

Ron McLean, President/CEO of the Cooperative Credit Union Association, delivered a comprehensive credit union industry update to the Southern MA Chapter of Credit Unions at The Palmer River Grille in Warren, RI. Lee Brookfield, President of the Chapter and representing St. Anne’s Credit Union, welcomed attendees and introduced Mike Moreau, Internal Audit Manager at Mystic Accounting Group LLP and the event's sponsor. Brookfield then introduced McLean, who addressed the group on numerous credit union trends with an emphasis on key legislative and regulatory priorities at the state and federal level.

McLean emphasized the importance of credit unions' involvement in Calls to Action, citing the recent national call regarding EFTA liability. He also provided an overview of federal and state legislative issues and detailed how CCUA and America’s Credit Unions advocate on behalf of all credit unions.

The discussion further explored NCUA’s priorities for 2024 and highlighted Open Banking, one of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's (CFPB) key focuses for the coming year. McLean concluded by discussing recent CCUA events, including CU Accelerate, Fintech Connect, and CU’s on Tap, all leading up to APEX, scheduled for October 16th-18th at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT.
