Massachusetts Credit Unions Donate $100,000 to A Bed for Every Child at Stephen Jones Charity Golf Tournament

Massachusetts Credit Unions and their business partners came together for the 7th annual Stephen D. Jones Credit Union Charity Golf Tournament held June 25th at Sterling National Country Club. It was a perfect day for golf and featured many of the tournament traditions as 117 golfers took on the hilly, windy, cart paths through the woods on the challenging course to support A Bed for Every Child, an initiative of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless (Coalition).

At the awards dinner, Social Responsibility Committee Chair Charlene Bauer from Metro Credit Union was the emcee for the hour and reflected on what this tournament meant to all those who knew Steve and the honor bestowed in his memory. Prior to presenting the check she announced that 100% participation from CCUA members in Massachusetts supported A Bed for Every Child this year. 

Members of the Social Responsibility Committee along with CCUA President/CEO Ronald McLean presented the $100,000 check to Tina Baptista from A Bed for Every Child.

One of the highlights was that the Massachusetts Credit Unions have now topped the $3 million dollar mark in support over the years to the MA Coalition for the Homeless/A Bed for Every Child!

McLean expressed his appreciation to all the credit unions and supporters who are making a difference in the lives of so many children in need of a bed.

Baptista added her thanks to the credit unions for their continuous support and all the lives they are changing by giving a child a good nights sleep.

Prior to revealing the golf winners, Bauer praised the credit unions and company sponsors for their dedication each year for the tournament.

The 2024 tournament winners included:

First Place – Mark McDermott, Paul McDonald, Bill Ely, Grant Alois from Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union.
Second Place – Sean Costello, Ray Lazcano, Steve Linehan, Rich Palanza from Boston Firefighters Credit Union.
Most Honorable – Kate Dame, Paige Dame, Kara Doyle, Alison Hughes from Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union.
