IT Manager

The IT Manager is responsible for overseeing the Credit Union’s information technology operations, ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of all IT systems. This role supports day to day operations while aligning technology initiatives with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and member service expectations.
 

The IT Manager serves as both a strategic partner and hands on leader, managing vendors, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and IT staff while ensuring compliance with NCUA regulations and industry’s best practices.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute the Credit Union’s IT strategy in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on technology risks, opportunities, and investments.
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate internal IT staff and/or managed service providers.

Infrastructure & Systems Management

  • Oversee core IT infrastructure including networks, servers, endpoints, cloud services, and telecommunications.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and disaster recovery for all critical systems.
  • Manage upgrades, patches, and system enhancements with minimal operational disruption.

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

  • Design, implement, and maintain information security controls consistent with NCUA, FFIEC, and industry standards.
  • Lead cybersecurity initiatives including user access controls, incident response, vulnerability management, and vendor risk assessments.
  • Support audits, exams, and documentation related to IT and information security.

Vendor & Project Management

  • Manage third party IT vendors, contracts, and service level agreements.
  • Lead IT projects including system implementations, integrations, and process improvements.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain IT policies, procedures, and documentation required for regulatory examinations.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, cybersecurity, and business continuity requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders during audits and regulatory exams.

Member & Staff Support

  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of IT issues impacting staff productivity and member service.
  • Support technology solutions that enhance member experience and operational efficiency.

Requirements/Skills Needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–8 years of progressive IT experience, including leadership or management responsibilities.
  • Banking/credit union, financial services, or highly regulated environments experience is preferred.
  • COCC experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems.
  • Experience managing IT vendors and outsourced service providers.
  • Experience working in a credit union or community financial institution.
  • Knowledge of NCUA, FFIEC, GLBA, and SOC reporting frameworks.
  • Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, PMP, ITIL, or similar) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and business continuity testing.
  • Strategic thinking balanced with hands on execution.
  • Strong risk and security mindset.
  • Excellent communication with technical and non technical stakeholders
