Global Women’s Leadership Network Hosts Pre-Conference Event at APEX

The Global Women’s Leadership Network (GWLN) hosted a packed pre-conference event on Tuesday ahead of APEX. Bruce Adams, President/CEO of the Credit Union League of Connecticut, and Ron McLean, President/CEO of the Cooperative Credit Union Association, welcomed attendees to the inspiring gathering.

The featured speaker, Dr. Joyner Eke, Ph.D., a biotech expert, led a powerful discussion titled “Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges: Women Leading the Future.” Dr. Eke encouraged attendees to reflect on the barriers they’ve overcome and consider how to create opportunities for the next generation.She emphasized that strong leadership begins with ensuring people are seen and heard—even when they’re not in the room. Attendees explored strategies to break through barriers by acknowledging and reframing limiting narratives, innovating from within, and modeling change to widen the path for others.

Dr. Eke closed the session with insights on balancing leadership and wellbeing. Her key message: Sustainable success requires rest and reflection. She reminded participants to set boundaries that protect their brilliance, take mindful moments, and focus energy on what restores rather than drains them.
