On Tuesday, April 8, Jessica Avery, CCUA’s Director of Advocacy, participated in a key legislative reception, engaging with prominent Delaware state leaders including Lt. Governor Kyle Evans Gay, Speaker Melissa Minor-Brown, Senate Majority Whip Elizabeth “Tizzy” Lockman, and Senate Banking Committee Chair Spiros Mantzavinos. The conversations highlighted strong support for credit unions, with leaders sharing their positive experiences and the vital role credit unions play in serving their communities.

Jessica had a productive conversation with Lt. Governor Gay focused on how credit unions can support the state’s housing priorities—an area of increasing importance for the administration.
She also connected with Senator Bryant Richardson and Senator Russ Huxtable, the lead sponsor of interchange legislation. Senator Huxtable expressed a willingness to hear feedback while the bill remains in committee. In addition, Representative Jeff Hilovsky discussed his chat bot legislation with Jessica, exploring its implications for credit unions.
These discussions signal meaningful legislative opportunities to shape bills in ways that protect and promote the credit union mission.
CCUA looks forward to building on these important conversations to strengthen the credit union voice and impact across Delaware.
