Credit Union Casual Day

The Credit Unions of Rhode Island Social Responsibility Committee invites your credit union to participate in our 2026 statewide “Credit Union Casual Day” for credit union staff on Friday, May 1, 2026 “MayDay”. May Day celebrates the halfway point between Spring and Summer Solstice, with flowers blooming, and new beginnings. What better way to show your support for Hasbro Children’s Hospital and the thousands of children they treat. Since 2007 more than $75,000 has been donated to the Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Rhode Island on behalf of the credit unions.  Credit unions in Rhode Island have also volunteered many hours at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. 

Jasper, this year’s Champion Child, is one of the hundreds of children that rely every day on Hasbro Children’s Hospital for the very best care. When Jasper was born full-term, nothing prepared his parents for what followed. Silent at birth, he was soon in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), where carbon dioxide retention and severe muscle weakness led to a 119 day stay. Even after a full genome sequencing, doctors had no clear diagnosis. Jasper went home with a tracheostomy, 24-hour ventilator support, a feeding tube, and 16 specialists at Hasbro Children’s Hospital by his side. Hasbro’s Ventilator Integration Program became the family’s lifeline, training his parents to manage every detail of his care and offering round-the-clock support. At age three, Jasper underwent an eight-hour airway reconstruction surgery and returned home trach-free just weeks before his birthday! Since then, the milestones have multiplied and now at age five (5), Jasper celebrated living longer without a trach than with one. Now seven (7), he’s thriving, swimming, playing soccer and baseball, creating art, and lighting up every room with his bold personality and smile.

Every day, Hasbro Children’s Hospital relies on the support from caring people and organizations to help ensure their vital work continues. Philanthropy is the cornerstone of everything they do. Every gift, no matter the size, makes an enormous difference. Each gift is an investment in the future of pediatric medicine, research, and medical education in southeastern New England. 

All monies raised should be made payable to the Cooperative Credit Union Association, Inc. with a reference to Hasbro Children’s Hospital – Children’s Miracle Network and forwarded to the CCUA office, Attn: Dawn Roberts. The monies will collectively go to Hasbro Children’s Hospital directly and used for care of children within the local area.
