Brian Azar, President and Chief Executive Officer of Coastal1 Credit Union, is pleased to announce the following promotions:
Carlos DaCunha has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Commercial Lending and Business Banking. He will be responsible for the management and growth of the credit union’s commercial loan portfolio that includes real estate, business lending and cash management solutions, while overseeing the day-to-day activities of the department. Carlos is also charged with adherence to regulatory requirements and procedural development.
Carlos has been with the credit union since April 2022 most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending. He has over 37 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Coastal1, he held the following positions: Chief Lending Officer with St. Anne’s Credit Union, Senior Vice President at Webster Bank, and Regional President with Millennium bcp of Banco Comercial Português SA, respectively.
Carlos is Treasurer and Executive Director of Bristol County Business Development Consultants; Advisory Director of UMass Dartmouth’s Charlton College of Business; member of the New Bedford CEO Council and past member of the Massachusetts Governor’s Economic Development Planning Council, among others. He holds an MBA from Bryant University and a BS in Finance from UMass Dartmouth.
Laura Frazer has been promoted to Vice President/Deposit Operations and will be responsible for the overall management of the deposit operations team in addition to providing insight into payment channels and the inherent risks involved. She has over 24 years in the banking industry most recently serving as Assistant Vice President of Operations.
Andew Olejarz has been promoted to Assistant Vice President/Information Security and will be responsible for governance, risk assessment, business continuity, incident response management and overall information security education within the credit union. Andrew has been with Coastal1 since 2018 most recently serving as Information Security Analyst. He holds a BS in Finance from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
Regional Managers are responsible for the performance of their respective regional branches by delivering directional oversight into member service standards; new member acquisition; deepening existing member relationships; and adherence to operational standards.
Debra Boory has been promoted to Vice President/Regional Manager for the Northern Retail Banking Region. She has over 25 years in the banking industry most recently serving as Assistant Vice President/ Regional Manager. Deb holds an AS in Business Management from CCRI and serves on the Board of Directors for the Northern RI Chamber of Commerce.
Alyson McCabe has been promoted to Vice President/for the Eastern Retail Banking Region. She has over 17 years in the banking industry most recently serving as Assistant Vice President/ Regional Manager. Alyson holds an AS in Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University and is a member of the East Providence Chamber of Commerce.
Monica Silva has been promoted to Vice President/Regional Manager for the Southern Retail Banking Region. She has over 17 years in the banking industry most recently serving as Assistant Vice President/ Regional Manager. Monica holds a BS in Financial Services Management from Johnson & Wales University and is the Treasurer of The Pawtucket Soup Kitchen.
Melvin Cardona has been promoted to Assistant Vice President/Regional Manager for the Central Retail Banking Region. He has been with the credit union since 2022, most recently serving as Branch Manager. Melvin has over 20 years in the banking industry and is a member of the Cranston Chamber of Commerce.
