CCUA NH Credit Unions Meet with Congressman Pappas in Manchester

Yesterday at St. Mary’s Bank in Manchester, New Hampshire, credit union leaders joined the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA) for an exclusive conversation with Congressman Chris Pappas (NH‑01). The discussion highlighted the ongoing importance of preserving credit unions’ tax‑exempt status and advancing other legislative priorities, such as interchange.

CCUA is grateful for Congressman Pappas’ steadfast support of the credit union movement—including his defense of our tax‑exempt status, support for board modernization, and efforts to lift lending caps—all of which strengthen the ability of credit unions to serve their members and communities. We also highlighted credit unions’ community impact, notably New Hampshire credit unions' partnership with Make-A-Wish, which recently surpassed the $4 million milestone.

“Credit unions across the Granite State appreciate Congressman Pappas’ unwavering commitment to preserving our tax status and advancing policies that support credit unions’ ability to improve financial well-being for all,” said Ron McLean, President & CEO of the CCUA.

Congressman Pappas, who announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate, is running for the seat up for election in 2026. The Association looks forward to continued collaboration with Congressman Pappas throughout the year to ensure credit unions remain a cornerstone of financial access and local economic growth.

Thank you to all who took part in yesterday’s important conversation, and a special thanks to St. Mary’s Bank for hosting the event.
