The inaugural gathering of the CCUA Technology Network marked a pivotal moment as credit union leaders convened to explore the significance of large language models (LLMs) in today's dynamic technological landscape. Vice President of Advisory Services at Strategic Resource Management, Connor Heaton, took the stage to delve into the evolving role of LLMs and their impact on the future of technology.

Drawing an engaged audience of nearly 30 participants, the virtual meeting provided a deep dive into the expansive realm of LLMs. Throughout the session, Heaton navigated various facets of LLMs, offering insights into the progression of technological intelligence and the essence of artificial intelligence (AI). Emphasizing the practical applications of AI in banking, he showcased its versatility in text generation and its transformative impact on financial institutions. Additionally, Heaton outlined the foreseeable trajectory of LLMs over the next 5-20 years, highlighting their potential as specialized tools and indispensable assets for empowering employees.  The group was even visited by an AI version of Morgan Freeman demonstrating the depth and sophistication of the technology. 

Key takeaways from the discussion underscored the pivotal role of LLMs across diverse domains, spanning development, marketing, compliance, and knowledge management within our industry. Participants gained valuable understanding into the growing influence of LLMs, recognizing their adoption and the consequential implications for the industry's future.

The webinar also featured an interactive question and answer session, providing members with clarity on topics such as accessibility to custom LLMs for credit unions and strategic considerations when partnering with AI companies.
