The Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA) proudly joined the nation's capital to witness the historic swearing-in of the 119th Congress, reaffirming our commitment to advocating for credit unions and their members. This momentous occasion offered an invaluable opportunity to engage with delegation officials, including newly sworn-in members from New Hampshire and Delaware, who share our vision of advancing the credit union movement.
CCUA Delaware members celebrated the historic achievements of Rep. Sarah McBride, and Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester, whose trailblazing leadership inspires us all. We also expressed our heartfelt gratitude to former Sen. Carper for his steadfast support of credit unions throughout his tenure.
In New Hampshire, Rep. Chris Pappas welcomed CCUA into his office, emphasizing his ongoing commitment to credit union priorities. Additionally, we were thrilled to meet with Rep. Maggie Goodlander, a proud credit union member herself, as she begins her impactful work in Congress. CCUA Chief Advocacy Officer Adrian Velazquez also met with Rhode Island Rep. Seth Magaziner, ensuring a strong voice for credit unions across our region.
As Congress began its work, CCUA was already at the forefront, advocating for the protection of the Credit Union tax status, standing firmly against interchange legislation, and underscoring the importance of the credit union difference. These vital conversations are crucial to ensuring that credit unions remain empowered to serve their members and communities effectively.
We look forward to continuing this critical advocacy at the upcoming GAC and through ongoing collaboration with legislators in Washington and their district offices. Together, we will work to protect and promote the credit union difference for generations to come.
