Position Overview:
- Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union is seeking a Vice President of Commercial Lending and Business Banking to lead commercial lending, business banking, and cash management. This executive will oversee strategy, growth, risk management, team development, execution, collaboration, and regulatory compliance. The role is responsible for optimizing earnings while managing risk in accordance with asset-liability management strategy, loan policies, and sound collection practices. The Vice President will also foster a consistent, mission-aligned member experience that supports strategic growth, deepens relationships, and strengthens acquisition and retention. This hybrid position is based in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Compensation:
- The anticipated salary range is $210,000–$255,000, depending on experience. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in a competitive incentive plan.

Responsibilities
Commercial Lending & Business Banking Strategy
- Partner with executive leadership to establish priorities for business performance, risk oversight, and organizational capacity.
- Lead and develop the commercial lending, business banking and cash management teams focusing on engagement and growth.
- Lead enterprise initiatives that expand commercial lending, business deposits, and cash management services while deepening member relationships.
- Develop and execute annual production strategies that improve sales, service delivery, and market impact.
- Shape relationship, pricing, and market-positioning strategies in response to changing competitive conditions.
- Execute strategic initiatives and deliver new cash management products and services.
- Assess market trends and portfolio performance to guide risk strategy and identify sustainable growth opportunities.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Direct Commercial Lending and Business Banking leaders and provide guidance and support to all team members.
- Develop staff through coaching, performance management, recognition, corrective action, professional development, and empowerment.
- Improve coordination among lending, underwriting, portfolio management, business banking, cash management, and other Credit Union teams.
- Prepare the annual Commercial Lending and Business Banking budget and effectively manage operating expenses.
- Champion continuous improvement to increase efficiency, strengthen service delivery, and enhance the member experience.
- Lead or contribute to enterprise projects aligned with Commercial Lending, Business Banking, and broader Credit Union priorities.
Sales & Service
- Drive lending results through disciplined pricing, loan structuring, credit analysis, and portfolio oversight.
- Oversee underwriting systems and collaborate with underwriting and portfolio management teams to deliver timely, high-quality credit decisions.
- Strengthen sales and service by expanding team knowledge of Credit Union offerings and encouraging meaningful member education.
- Provide ongoing leadership that supports the mission, growth, and profitability of Commercial Lending, Business Banking, andCash Management, including adoption of new products, technologies, and processes.
- Manage business banking and cash management performance, including deposit growth, account activity, and market competitiveness.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service, client meetings, tailored solutions, and cross-selling opportunities.
- Represent Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union through community engagement, business networks, organizational memberships, and Credit Union-sponsored or supported events.
- Cultivate business relationships that advance the Credit Union’s strategic growth goals.
- Identify partnerships with community organizations that promote business deposit solutions.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Oversee the commercial loan portfolio and report key results, trends, and market conditions to Senior Management, the
- Member Business Loan Committee, the Credit Committee, and the Board of Directors.
- Analyze reporting to identify changes in loan quality and concentration and recommend appropriate adjustments.
- Monitor delinquencies and coordinate collection efforts with the Collections Department and legal counsel.
- Oversee annual commercial lending loan reviews, compliance examinations, and risk management examinations.
- Lead annual loan policy updates to maintain regulatory compliance and alignment with the Credit Union’s risk profile.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Analytics & Reporting
- Lead the development of dashboards and performance measures that support credit and deposit functions.
- Analyze membership trends to identify product and service gaps and recommend actions that improve growth and retention.
- Coordinate reporting and analytics for key business metrics.
- Provide executive leadership with reports supported by meaningful portfolio analysis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements/Skills Needed
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field, plus 10–15 years of commercial lending, business banking, and portfolio or credit management experience—preferably in a bank or credit union—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial credit, loan structuring, pricing, deposit growth, business banking, cash management, regulatory requirements, and the credit union and banking industry.
- Strong strategic thinking, financial analysis, problem-solving, decision-making, negotiation, communication, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to collaborate and influence across the organization, manage competing priorities, work independently, translate data into concise insights, research industry practices, and balance operational and administrative requirements.
