Compliance Hot Topics presented by Jessica Avery
Jessica Avery took on the role of Director of Advocacy at CCUA in January 2023, where she has pioneered the integration of data into PAC communications and strategies to boost giving. Hailing from Western Massachusetts, she has amplified advocacy efforts and engagement with legislators in the region. Before joining CCUA, Jessica spent five years at the Massachusetts State House focusing on policy areas such as climate, energy, education, and Veterans affairs. With a background in research and evaluation at the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, she honed her skills in data analysis and tool development. Jessica also boasts campaign experience, notably managing State Representative Shirley Arriaga's historic election campaign. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Gender Studies from Mount Holyoke College and a graduate degree in Public Policy and Administration from UMass Amherst’s School of Public Policy. In her spare time, Jessica volunteers with her Mount Holyoke alumnae class and serves as a scholarship reader with the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts.

Michael Petrone is a Risk Management Consultant in Risk and Compliance Solutions with TruStage. In this role he is responsible for assisting credit unions in identifying areas of risk in their operations and recommending appropriate control to reduce loss exposures. Mike began his career with TruStage in 1986 as a loss prevention specialist., and specializes in the area of workplace operations, physical security, internal controls, and employee safety. Mike earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Salem State University. He holds designations of Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Financial Service Auditor (CFSA) and Credit Union Security & Fraud Expert (CUSFE). Mike is also an ALICE Certified Active Assailant Instructor.

Joe Hileman is a Co-Founder and Training Specialist for Blue U Defense. He served as the Assistant Team Commander of the Monadnock Regional Special Response (SWAT) Team and for 19 years as a Detective with the Jaffrey (NH) Police Department. Prior to his career in Law Enforcement, he served as Security Supervisor at the corporate management level of a Fortune 500 company. Mr. Hileman holds two A.A. degrees in Criminal Justice – Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Corrections, Probation, and Parole and extensive tactical trainings.

Dianne Gagne joined NEMHS in 2019 as a Trainer, quickly advancing to Installation Technician within six months. In these roles, she trained TCR operators and performed installations, supported by her colleagues in machine prep and rigging. Over time, her expertise expanded with the company's growth, leading to her transition to the sales team in 2021 as an account manager and product expert. Dianne's background in restaurant management emphasizes the importance of prioritizing a great customer experience, a principle she applies diligently in her role, ensuring each customer receives tailored solutions that add convenience, guidance, and value to their operations.

His experience spans key roles in organizations like Dun & Bradstreet, Liberty Enterprises, Corporate One FCU, and as co-founder of Legacy Member Services. As a pivotal member of CU24's senior management team, Joe contributed to the organization's success. Currently serving as SVP of Marketing & Partnerships for Dolphin Debit Access, a division of Euronet Worldwide, Joe continues to drive innovation. In 2016, he earned the Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) certification from the National Credit Union Foundation.

Doug, with 14 years of experience, is dedicated to data-driven target marketing. He specializes in Return on Partnership (RoP) and Return on Marketing Investments (RoMI) at Synergent. Holding certifications including Credit Union Certified Marketing Executive (CUCME) and Pragmatic Certified Product Master (PMC-VIII), he has worked with the Maine Credit Union League. Doug and his Marketing Services team have successfully guided hundreds of credit unions, leading thousands of data-driven initiatives, resulting in over half a billion dollars in credit union growth.

Kevin Joly brings a wealth of experience in operations and HR across Retail, Manufacturing, and Staffing industries, having worked in both solo and corporate HR roles. With expertise in recruiting, training, employee relations, safety, payroll, and benefits administration, he joined EANE as an HR Business Partner in 2023, later transitioning to the role of Member Services HR Coordinator. In this capacity, Kevin collaborates with various teams to deliver tailored information, services, and training programs to meet members' evolving needs. He spearheads HR projects, offers hotline support, conducts training programs, and develops new content and resources to enhance member experiences.
