Naveo Credit Union Raises over $1,200 for Boston Children’s Hospital Through the Miracle Jeans Day Initiative

For the eleventh consecutive year, Naveo Credit Union participated in the Miracle Jeans Day initiative to raise funds for Boston Children’s Hospital, its local Miracle Network hospital, during the month of September. Naveo matched employee donations for a total donation of over $1,200.

Massachusetts Holds Public Hearings on Credit Union Legislation

The Joint Committee on Financial Services (“Committee”) of the Massachusetts General Court held its first public hearing on banking matters yesterday, the subject of which was a number of credit union-specific bills, including all of the Cooperative Credit Union Association’s legislative priorities for the 2021-2022 session. Association President/CEO Ron McLean testified in support of several measures.

Summary of October NCUA Board Meeting

The National Credit Union Administration Board approved two items during its nineth open meeting of 2021:

•         A final rule that adds the sensitivity to market risk or “S” component to the existing CAMEL rating system and redefines the liquidity risk or “L” component; and

•         A final rule that expands the list of permissible activities and services credit union service organizations or CUSOs are allowed to engage in.

In addition, the NCUA Board received a semiannual briefing on cybersecurity risks confronting credit unions and the financial services sector.

Members First Credit Union Celebrates Grand Opening of New Main Office

Members First Credit Union recently celebrated the grand opening of its new main office with a ribbon cutting and reception. The new main office is an 18,000-square-foot, three-story building offering full-service banking with a two-lane drive-up, onsite parking, and convenient access from the Amoskeag Bridge. In addition to a full-service branch, the new facility houses the credit union’s executive management and back-office support teams.

Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union Awards $1,500 to Westford Chorus

Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union is pleased to present Westford Chorus with a $1,500 donation, through their Give-A-Click campaign. The Give-A-Click program runs quarterly on the We Share a Common Thread Foundation website ( Community members visit the site, learn about the worthy non-profit contestants, and cast their vote for the one they would like to support. The organization with the most votes at the end of the quarter is awarded a $1,500 donation from the Foundation.

McLean Urges NCUA to Level Playing Field for CUs

In responding to request for comments on the National Credit Union Administration’s proposed rule on the Complex Credit Union Leverage Ratio (“CCULR”), Cooperative Credit Union Association President/CEO Ron McLean urged the NCUA to set the CCULR leverage requirement at 9% permanently so that credit unions will have a level playing field with community banks adopting the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s Community Bank Leverage Ratio.

Leominster Credit Union Donates to Fathering Fathers, Inc.

Leominster Credit Union (LCU) presented a check for $5,000 to Fathering Fathers, Inc., a non-profit mentoring organization, dedicated to raising up healthy, confident, and well-prepared young men. The lion’s share of this donation will go to help jump start a girl’s mentoring program based out of Clinton Middle School and Tahanto Regional, in Clinton and Boylston, Massachusetts respectively.
