Southern MA Credit Unions Receive Industry Update
Credit Unions from all over southern Massachusetts gathered at the Fireside Grille in Middleboro, MA on September 12th for a night that was filled with camaraderie, laughter and learning.
Lee Brookfield, President of the Southern MA Chapter of Credit Unions welcomed the group and thanked all the credit unions for the amount of beds built at the Build A Bed event for the MA Coalition for the Homeless that took place in May and stated that there will be another Build A Bed event planned for the spring.
Ron McLean then presented his industry update. Those gathered learned about the upcoming federal and state legislative priorities and the passage of legislation in Massachusetts for Remote Online Notarization. And on the Federal level the passage of the Modernization Act as well as the SAFE Banking Act. Ron also stressed the importance of the fight against Interchange Legislation. He also spent some time on the rise of AI and the implications for credit unions.
