Register for the Virtual Community Reinvestment Act Summit

The Cooperative Credit Union Association is pleased to invite you to register to participate in its upcoming virtual Community Reinvestment Act Summit which will take place on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. via RingCentral webinar. This event continues the Association’s commitment to provide members with timely annual training relative to the Community Reinvestment Act and fair lending, building from last year’s inaugural event. Staff overseeing compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act, lending and outreach responsibilities are strongly urged to attend. All credit union officials are welcome to attend.

The complimentary virtual program, which is being held in collaboration with the Massachusetts Division of Banks, will be comprised of a number of informative sessions led by credit union subject matter experts, representatives from the Division of Banks, and other industry professionals.

First, a segment on the business case for CRA and diversity inclusion will feature Commissioner of Banks Mary Gallagher and Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development Rosalin Acosta. The presentation will address developments on the horizon as CRA intersects with and diversity initiatives impacting credit unions.

Directly following, a segment on COVID-19 and connecting communities and credit unions through CRA will feature Chief Director Compliance and CRA/Fair Lending Irene Weydt from the Division of Banks. The presentation will provide insights into the unique COVID-19 impact on CRA, including assessment areas, as well as traditional CRA qualified activities such as retail banking and lending services, investments, and community development. The Paycheck Protection Program, efforts to maintain affordable single and multiple family housing, and minority- and women-owned businesses, will also be a focus.

Finally, a panel of industry experts will share insights into examination practices, the digital divide, and emerging developments to enhance fair lending and CRA performance during a conversation about CRA. Highlights will also include information sharing about the new credit union CDFI Awareness and Certification Campaign.
