Northeast Credit Union (NECU) recently celebrated the unveiling of a custom bocce court donated to the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department of The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. This gift is the culmination of NECU’s 80th Anniversary appreciation campaign, which honored its past and celebrated the loyal members and communities that have supported the credit union through decades of growth and success.

“The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard community holds a special place in our hearts since its workers founded our credit union more than 80 years ago. We credit our strong foundation to the loyalty of the Shipyard community and continue to work together to build better places to work and live,” said Tim Collia, Northeast Credit Union’s president/CEO. “We’re excited to donate this bocce court and support the revitalization of the Shipyard parks for their community to enjoy.”

The new bocce court is part of the 10-acre Jamaica Island Park that is used daily by the military and their family members for their recreational enjoyment. The wooded park includes 3 picnic pavilions, a playground and soon-to-be-built spray park, located along the Piscataqua River.

"The bocce court was a great addition to our park as everyone can enjoy this wonderful family game in a great setting" said Gary MacLeay, MWR Director at the Shipyard. "We have had a great relationship with NECU and this gift was a wonderful way to acknowledge that relationship."
