NCUA’s Harper Joins McLean, CUs for Open Discussion
Cooperative Credit Union Association President/CEO Ron McLean and members of the Association welcomed The Honorable Todd Harper, National Credit Union Administration Board Member, to an open dialogue last Friday. Harper provided an update on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the economy and the nation’s credit unions.
Harper said that from the onset of the pandemic the focus of the NCUA has been on
- Protecting the health & safety of staff and contractors
- Assessing the impact of COVID-19 on credit unions, and
- Mitigating the impact of the pandemic on the NCUSIF
Noting that diversity leads to better service, greater innovation, improved solutions and increased membership, Harper urged credit unions to participate in the NCUA’s Annual Voluntary Credit Union Diversity Self-Assessment. He also challenged credit unions to find ways to make more MBLs to people of color and within communities of color.
