First Recipients of Metro’s New Partnership with Second Chance Cars Announced
Metro Credit Union has partnered with Second Chance Cars, a non-profit organization in Eastern Massachusetts that provides refurbished, affordable used cars to low-income veterans and citizens reentering society from prison, so they are better able to compete for living-wage jobs. SCC has recently also begun a pilot program with Salem-based North Shore Community Health to support healthcare worker employment. As part of the partnership, Metro provides Second Chance Cars recipients with affordable financing opportunities and individual counseling sessions with a certified financial advisor.
This week, Madelyn, a healthcare worker at North Shore Community Health, and Troy, a man recently released from prison,
were the first recipients to benefit from this new partnership. They received their new cars at a special unveiling ceremony in Salem.
