2019 Awards of Excellence

This year marks the debut of a refreshed set of annual CCUA awards geared to recognize the heroes and “credit union legends” among us. The all new CCUA Awards of Excellence have been revamped, now placing a greater emphasis on honoring the people who make a difference by their personal embrace of the credit union system and its values and principles.

This year, CCUA introduces new nomination categories including a new nomination process which promises to make the Awards of Excellence ceremony at the upcoming Annual Convention more engaging for all.

Cooperative Credit Union Association Hall of Fame members have devoted their lives to the philosophy and success of the credit union movement, and they have made a significant impact on credit unions at the local, state, and / or national levels. Whether it’s inspirational leadership and bold decision-making, which resulted in growth and improvement; personal dedication and commitment in delivering exemplary service; or voluntary contributions of countless time and energy that have enriched the lives of all within the industry, such achievements are a testament to a career worthy of the highest respect, honor and recognition.

CCUA will recognize recipients with an Award of Excellence for Career Achievement, inducting them into its prestigious Hall of Fame.

Guidelines/eligibility: Hall of Fame nominees must have been affiliated with Association credit unions.  CCUA employees, board members and awards committee members are not eligible for nomination.

At the heart of every credit union is its Chief Executive Officer, responsible for a myriad of duties which ultimately define the organization's culture and its success. Leading the credit union's efforts to achieve growth in the many ways it serves its members; being an inspiration to the team by constantly motivating them to excellence; and engaging the community as the credit union's chief ambassador are just a few of the requirements associated with the person who occupies the corner office.

CCUA will recognize a recipient with a CEO of the Year Award of Excellence.

Guidelines/eligibility: CEOs of affiliated credit unions may be nominated. CCUA employees, board members, and awards committee members are not eligible for nomination.

People are the backbone of an outstanding credit union. Their dedication to cooperative values coupled with a willingness to go above and beyond to provide service quality to members distinguishes the credit union from its industry peers within the financial services marketplace. They make credit unions shine! Many of the stories describing their attitudes, commitment and service may sound like the folklore of legends, but in reality they describe the heroes of the credit union industry, the trend setters, whose example is for all a model to embrace and follow.

CCUA will recognize recipients with a Professional of the Year Award of Excellence.

Guidelines/eligibility: Paid professionals (excluding the CEO) of affiliated credit unions may be nominated. CCUA employees, board members, and awards committee members are not eligible for nomination.

Look beyond the walls of a credit union to discover a pillar of the industry, volunteers who have given freely of their time, energy, wisdom, and knowledge to help guide and nurture a credit union to success, year in and year out. Volunteers serve as members of the board and in other capacities of leadership and inspiration. Their service and commitment is legendary, truly an example of “people helping people.”

CCUA will recognize recipients with a Volunteer of the Year Award of Excellence.

Guidelines/eligibility: Credit union directors, committee members at Association member credit unions may be nominated. CCUA employees, board members and awards committee members are not eligible for nomination.

To place a candidate’s name in nomination, begin by stating the nomination category followed by a description of the candidate and the reasons why you believe he or she deserves such recognition. Tell the judges how the nominee reflects the attributes described within each nomination category. Specific examples should be cited. Be creative. Include photos and supporting material in your essay which should not exceed 1,000 words.

Finally, email your nomination essay plus a hi-res photo of the candidate to Communications@CCUA.Org. There are no limits to the number of nominations a credit union wishes to submit.

Submit your nomination essay and hi-res photo of the candidate no later than Noon on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. Nominees chosen for the award recognition will be notified in advance of the October awards ceremony.

Nomination deadline is 12:00 pm, Tuesday, September 3, 2019.

Judging of all nomination essays by a panel of credit union representatives will be held September 4 – 11. Winners will be notified no later than Monday, September 16, 2019, in order to accommodate winners needing to make room reservations. (The deadline for making convention room reservations at the Mohegan Sun is Tuesday, September 24, 2019.)

All winners will be announced and recognized at the Awards Luncheon on Thursday, October 17 during CCUA's Annual Meeting and Convention, which is scheduled for Oct 16-18 at the Mohegan Sun Resort, in Uncasville, CT.
