Understanding Employee Engagement - February 27, 2019

In a white paper from Dale Carnegie, “engagement is demonstrated by how personally connected and committed workers feel to their organization” and in a study they conducted found that “it is the immediate supervisor who is the chief emotional driver in the workplace; reactions to him or her explain 84% of how employees feel about the organization.”

Understanding the drivers of this engagement can empower supervisors, managers and leaders to leverage these factors to improve individual and department or credit union-wide performance.

This program will guide attendees to examine the engagement drivers and the work experience through four questions:

Why is the employee at your credit union – the ‘quid pro quo’ of it all?

What is the work they are doing – tasks, duties, accountabilities?

Who are the others in the workplace – supervisors, peers, members?

How does the company or department work – the culture of the organization?

In addition, and overview of the critical phases of strategy implementation to best foster engagement within the company will be reviewed.

According to Gallop, “a highly engaged workforce means the difference between a company that outperforms its competitors and one that fails to grow...and many companies are experiencing a crisis of engagement and aren't aware of it.”
