At 38 years old, Bob Drouin is the Vice President – Controller at Service Credit Union. Bob is responsible for the credit union’s Accounting, Finance, Deposit Operations, Payroll and Data Analytics departments, handling all financial aspects of the company and all corresponding reporting. He also manages the credit union’s annual budget and re-measurement of variances between actual and budgeted expectations.
Overseeing 21 people in the various departments, Bob promotes a culture which encourages and ensures accuracy in reports and collaboration among departments. He has a thorough understanding of the credit union’s financial operations, data metrics and business intelligence reporting. Bob has a wealth of knowledge in accounting, finance, operations and auditing oversight, and he is called upon by other departments frequently as a subject matter expert in those areas. He is an active member of the CUNA (Credit Union National Association) CFO Council, a past member of the Innovation Committee for the CFO Council and currently volunteers on the Conference Committee. Bob also serves on the N.H. chapter of the CCUA board as the chapter president.
A self-proclaimed “numbers guy,” Bob created the Analytics Department in March of 2017 to assist the credit union in making informed decisions based on membership, products and industry data. He is careful to analyze every dollar spent by the credit union to ensure a projected return on investment. Bob has been an integral part of changing the mindset of the company to rely on data for educated decision making.
Bob’s financial management skills, including budgeting, reporting, accounting procedures and internal controls, are essential to the credit union’s success. He and his teams provide essential reports to credit union senior management to analyze the status of current goals and to aid in decision-making activities regarding policies, pricing and services making as well as creating and working with predictive analytics models to identify membership behaviors and influences.
Bob has been the driving force in many credit union efficiencies, including reducing the month-end close cycle from three weeks to three days, aiding the establishment of a new human resource information system and payroll processing system for the credit union’s Human Resource that has provided countless workflows and task automation which reduced manual tasks and validation across all credit union departments.
Before being promoted to Vice President in March 2017, Bob joined Service Credit Union as Controller in February 2014. He previously served as Vice President/Chief Financial Officer at Commonwealth Cooperative Bank in Massachusetts. Bob has a BA in Accounting from Merrimack College and MS in Economic Crime Management from Utica College.
