Race, Culture, and
the American Girl
Chicago Girls Talk About the Intersection of Race, Sexism, and Pop Culture

The Council and Girl Scouts of Chicago partner to highlight the challenges and assets of developing diversity-based programs for girls. The Council used the data from three focus group discussions with Chicago area girls (from diverse backgrounds) as the foundation for developing this issue of One City magazine. Also, included in this issue is a list of recommendations for developing diversity-based girl programs along with a resource list of girl programs in the Chicago area as well as national organizations.
