Filling Gaps in Chicago’s
Coverage for Health Care

This edition of One City presents different diagnoses and remedies for an ailing healthcare system.

The strategy of defining issues and staking out positions based on polls makes for a follower, not a leader. By the time the polls identify a problem, its symptoms are severe and resistant to simple antidotes. We citizens have to resist allowing ourselves to be so crassly manipulated. A requirement of any genuine democracy is an informed citizenry. That’s why this issue of One City presents six different viewpoints on health care reform.
