Affirmative Action
Putting the Facts on the Table

Affirmative action policies have been labeled everything from quotas to crutches. It is One City’s intent to provide our readers with factual information about affirmative action.

This issue provides a concise history of affirmative action policies, relevant national work force statistics, a range of differing viewpoints about the success and failure of these policies, and a summary of a soon-to-be released study on the media’s role in shaping the affirmative action debate, conducted by Professor Robert Entman of North Carolina State University and commissioned by the Human Relations Foundation of Chicago.
