Board of Directors

The Council has 25 directors. Each director serves a three-year term and has the option of being renominated. Directors serve on the program, marketing and membership, or financial development committees. Each committee chair sits on the executive committee. The Council’s president reports to the executive committee.

Decision-making, regarding program direction, board policy, and large purchases or financial obligations, is shared between the president and executive committee, and ratified by the full board.

The Council places a high priority on diversity within the organization. Diversity is defined as: race, ethnicity, gender and sector (business, government, community). The Council’s board is 23% African-American, 13% Latino, 13% Asian, 51% Anglo-American, 59% male and 41% female. Click here to view Board of Directors.

Staff

The Council’s core staff includes the President, Business Manager, and Interns. The Council also works with a team of consultants, experts and volunteers to help develop programs, projects and publications. In addition, the Council’s team of partners represent the rich racial and ethnic diversity of Chicago. Click here to view Staff.

Interns

Student interns play a vital role in the structure of the Council. We look to interns to help provide research, writing, program and event planning assistance to the Council.

Council interns are self-starters; motivated; team-players; good communicators; ready to hit-the-ground-running; independent thinkers; and committed to social justice.

The Council works with local universities and colleges to recruit interns with experience, knowledge, or interest in sociology, criminal justice, public policy, civil rights, urban affairs, and juvenile justice and immigration.

For more information about applying for Council internships, please contact Lu Bailey at 312-782-3511 or email her at lubailey@ccua.org. Click here to view current Council Interns.
