Council Programs and Activities for Fiscal Years 1999 and 2000 During fiscal years 1999 and 2000, the Council leapt into the new millennium with a bang. First, we started fiscal year 1999 with the announcement of a major grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Identically, we ended fiscal year 2000 in the same manner. The Council was awarded a $75,000 grant from the MacArthur Foundation for its juvenile justice initiative, which included a citywide survey on perceptions about youth crime and the juvenile justice system. The following fiscal year, the MacArthur Foundation approved a $200,000, two-year grant to the Council to further its juvenile justice initiative, including a project to collaborate with four community-based organizations to develop community-driven solutions to youth crime and reform of the Juvenile Court. |
