About the Council

The Chicago Council on Urban Affairs is Chicago’s leading independent multi-cultural/multi-racial civic organization. Encompassing diverse interests and sectors, the Council works to improve the quality of life and equity of opportunity for all.

The Chicago Council on Urban Affairs creates a more informed citizenry and opportunities for exerting influence by:

  clarifying significant public issues that affect all of Chicago,
  building understanding of options to improve public policy and private sector initiatives,
  demonstrating how practical programs can improve the quality of life, and
  building commitment for action on these issues.
